Birds don't freeze in flight at 10°C because they have several physiological adaptations that help them regulate their body temperature. Birds have a high metabolic rate, which generates heat to keep them warm. They also have insulating feathers and a layer of fat under their skin to help retain heat. Additionally, birds are able to shiver to generate extra heat when needed. These adaptations allow birds to maintain their body temperature and avoid freezing in flight, even at lower temperatures. **

People clip birds' flight feathers to prevent them from flying away or escaping. This is often done for safety reasons, such as when birds are kept as pets or in aviaries. Clipping the flight feathers can also help in training birds or when transporting them, as it reduces the risk of injury or loss. Additionally, clipping flight feathers can help to control the bird's behavior and limit their ability to cause damage or harm in certain environments. **

Yes, it is important for birds to have daily free flight to maintain their physical and mental well-being. Free flight allows birds to exercise their wings, strengthen their muscles, and maintain a healthy weight. It also provides mental stimulation and helps prevent boredom and behavioral issues. Additionally, free flight allows birds to exhibit natural behaviors such as foraging and exploring their environment. **

Flight capability is a convergent development in both bats and birds. Despite evolving from different ancestors, both groups have independently developed wings and the ability to fly. This convergent evolution is a result of similar environmental pressures and the advantages that flight provides in terms of foraging, escaping predators, and accessing new habitats. **

Flight ability is a convergent development in bat birds. This means that flight has evolved independently in both bats and birds, despite their different evolutionary histories. Bats and birds have both developed wings and the ability to fly in order to adapt to their environments and find food sources. This convergent development has allowed both groups to thrive in their respective ecosystems. **

The most energy-consuming flight of birds is during migration, particularly for long-distance migrants such as the bar-tailed godwit. These birds undertake non-stop flights of thousands of miles over several days, crossing oceans and continents. During these flights, birds have to sustain high levels of energy expenditure to power their continuous flight, making it the most energy-consuming type of flight for birds. **

Yes, it is possible to keep birds in a room and allow them to have free flight while being enclosed. This can be achieved by creating a bird-safe environment within the room, with no open windows or doors that the birds could fly into. Additionally, the room should be free of any potential hazards such as toxic plants, open water sources, or small objects that the birds could ingest. Providing plenty of perches, toys, and space for the birds to fly and exercise is also important for their well-being. Regular cleaning and maintenance of the room will also be necessary to ensure the birds' health and safety. **

It is unclear whether the neighbor has been keeping birds in a cage without free flight for months without further information or evidence. If there are concerns about the well-being of the birds, it may be important to investigate further or reach out to local animal welfare authorities for assistance. Observing the condition of the birds and their living environment can help determine if they are being kept in a humane and appropriate manner. **
